Description
Documents issued in a foreign country which will be used in the Kurdistan Region, such as powers of attorney, university certificates, birth, death and marriages records, must be “authenticated” or “legalized” before they can be recognized as valid in the Kurdistan Region.

Conditions
The documents must be originals or certified copies.
The documents must be authenticated by the foreign ministry of the country of issuance, as well as the Iraqi embassy or KRG representative in the relevant country.
If the document is translated into English or any other language by a legal translator, it must be verified by the notary public then the Ministry of Justice and the KRG's Foreign Relations Department.

The National ID and Residence Card of the requestor, or Passport and Residency.

Free of charge.
Procedures
The requestor visits the KRG's Department of Foreign relations and presents the required documents and identity cards.
The requestor receives a ticket with the transaction number and advised to wait in the waiting area until the documents are authenticated.
